Marimba Books
Marimba Books is a multicultural children’s book imprint dedicated to publishing titles that reflect our country’s diversity. The name for Marimba Books comes from the Bantu languages, most likely Kimbundu, among the most widely spoken pre-colonial languages in Central Africa. The marimba, a musical instrument in the percussion family, originated in Africa but was popularized in Central and South America. The instrument is made of graduated wooden bars that are struck with a mallet. Used in numerous cultures throughout the world, the marimba is a fitting symbol for conveying the cultural diversity, richness, rhythm of language, and the sharing of contemporary multicultural stories that embody the titles of Marimba Books.
